Breast Health Educational Booths: Help disseminate breast health educational information at health fairs, Komen events, third party fundraising events, community fairs, etc. May require additional training with the Affiliate Education Chair.
Distribution: Help distribute advertising flyers for Komen events to local businesses, health care providers and community centers.
Finance Committee: We are looking for CPAs and others experienced with Quick Books to work with the Affiliate Treasurer and Race Treasurer.
Grants Review Committee: Review grantee’s RFPs to determine their validity and viability and make recommendations to the Board regarding such. May also be asked to perform site visits of grantee facilities. Committee consists of health care professionals, breast cancer survivors, community leaders and lay people.
Graphic Design: Designers needed to produce newsletters, invitations, posters and any other collateral in accordance with Komen branding guidelines.
Merchandise Sales/Promotion: Sell and promote Komen merchandise at Komen events, third party fundraising events, community fairs, etc. Will also be responsible for merchandise inventory and transporting merchandise to/from events.
Public Relations: Assist Affiliate Communications Chair with press releases, press conferences, newspaper and magazine articles, radio and television spots and newsletters to promote breast health education and fundraising events.
Race Week/Day Activities: Over 500 volunteers are needed to help with the Race. They assist with registration, packet/t-shirt pick-up, Race course set up/tear down, traffic/people direction, site set up/tear down, kid’s activity corner (requires additional background check), Race course water stations and distributing food to runners/walkers.
Race Organizing Committee: Requires year-long commitment to plan for the Race day activities and Health/Sponsor Expo under the direction of the Race Chair. Areas include registration, teams, kid’s activity corner, sponsorship, health expo, door prizes and Survivor’s Pink Café. This committee meets the 2nd Wednesday of every month.
Set-up/Tear-Down: Every event, especially the Race, requires strong individuals to help set up tables, chair, barricades, banners, signs, etc. These are often the un-sung heroes of every event.
Speaker’s Bureau: We are looking for experienced public speakers to give breast health presentations at various community events, community and professional board meetings, colleges and any other forums requesting our presence. These positions will require additional training regarding breast cancer from our Affiliate Education Chair.
Sponsorship Committee: Secure cash and in-kind sponsorships for Affiliate events including but not limited to the Race, the Taste and Survivor Luncheon under the direction of the Affiliate Fundraising Chair.
Survivor Committee: Assist the Affiliate Survivor Chair in advertising, organizing and implementing the yearly Salute to Survivors Luncheon. Additional opportunities may include planning other Survivor activities and developing resources for Survivors.
Taste for the Cure: A fundraising event being held this year on October 20th. It will include an “iron chef” cook-off, beer and wine tasting, sampling of food from some of Salt Lake’s best restaurants and an awesome silent auction. Volunteers will be needed to help with registration, the silent auction, set-up and clean-up.
Third Party Event Liaison: Under the direction of the Affiliate Fundraising Chair, serve as a resource and contact person for various third party events. Past third party events have included, “Bowl for the Cure”, “Raft for the Cure”, “Spike for the Cure” and “Row for the Cure”.
Web Site Maintenance: We are looking for experienced web site designers to help with the maintenance of our site. Duties will include adding/changing photos, graphics, links and text as well as sending the e-newsletter and other mass e-mails.
Yoplait Save Lids to Save Lives: Under the direction of the Affiliate Fundraising Chair, distribute Yoplait collection boxes to area business and then collect the accumulated lids and send them in to Yoplait. Our Affiliate receives $.10 from every lid collected and sent in from our area. Last year this program contributed over $7,000 to our Affiliate.
